Abt Director Bala

Director Bala Was Born in Madurai, Bala is a graduate in Tamil literature from Madurai American College.

 

After training as an assistant director under Balu Mahendra for five films all of which won National awards, he broke into the tamil film industry with “SETHU” in 1999 which earned widespread critical appreciation and catapulted the leading man Vikram into superstardom overnight. 



Bala films often feature complex themes woven in seemingly simple plots. With a career spanning  nearly a decade, he has garnered high acclaim and had been praised for handling serious issues whilst retaining the entertainment value in his films. His movies are generally made in the tamil language but are usually also remade into other languages like Telegu and Hindi owing to  their National appeal.





His three films have won 13 filmfare awards and “PITHAMAGAN” has the distinguished honor of being the only Tamil movie to be awarded with 6 Filmfare awards. Bala won the prestigious Kalaimamani Award from the State of Tamil Nadu in 2007.
His fourth films is “NAAN KADAVUL” starring Arya, Pooja & others.





Naan Kadavul won two National awards at 56th National film awards 2008 and three State awards at Tamilnadu Govt film awards 2008. director Bala won Best Director award for Naan Kadavul.
